Fond Memories
Meg & Family: I predict you will be seeing more cards & messages, both online and in the mailbox now that the Punahou Bulletin arrived. To say that we are moved, shocked, dumbfounded, saddened, at a loss for words -- well you can tell that the emotions cover the gamut. I remember you and John very fondly from our time at Punahou. You two were the "tall kids" and were a perfect match together even back then. You guys were true high school sweethearts up to now. My memories of John are of a disciplined guy, who seemed to know what he wanted, excelled in the things that mattered, was a leader, but also was kind and always had smile about him. We ran into each other at the 20 year reunion in 1991 and I thought -- perfect, you two are still together, havenot really aged and seemed to be the same enjoyable people we all knew from our days at Punahou togeher -- just a little older and mature. I guess by that time John was working with United. A few years later I was talking to my brother John (Punahou Class of 1982). My brother works for Southwest Air as a dispatcher out of Love Field in Dallas, Texas and has to fly to keep his FAA license up for his job. So he is in Honolulu and tells me that he flew over from LA in a United Air 747 with a classmate of mine and that they traded stories, including about our times at Punahou, almost the entire flight over. Of course it was John (aka JT to you folks) and he made sure to send his regards to me through my brother. My home is under the glidepath for Burbank and (sometimes LAX) airport -- so whenever I see/hear a United plane go overheard from now on I will think of you two and say a little prayer of blessing and remembrance. We have lost too many from our class at such young ages. God bless and keep you! Chris Townsley Santa Clarita, California
